The future of Maryport's Curzon Grill is in doubt.

The cafe has been closed for several weeks and owner Sean Tunstall said this week that he did not know if it would be reopening.

He declined to comment further.

The Curzon Grill was run by Yvonne Hetherington-Tunstall until she was killed in road accident in May 2014.

Since then the restaurant has been run by family members.

The Curzon Grill started life some time in the 1970s as The Pantry, owned by David McKee Safe at 65 Curzon Street.

In 1980, it was bought by Maryport woman, Anita Lopez, and her Spanish husband Manolo, who brought the next door property, 68 Curzon Street, and knocked the two properties together creating La Fonda.

At that stage the restaurant began opening at nights as well as during the day.

In 1990 the couple sold the business to Bill and Sharon Barnes who ran it for about nine years before selling to Mrs Hetherington-Tunstall.

As well as running the restaurant, Mrs Hetherington-Tunstall had rooms to let above the premises.
