Cockermouth ironmongers JB Banks is marking the Tour of Britain with a celebration of the history of cycling.

The shop has created a window display with cycling paraphernalia old and new ahead of the event's visit to the town on September 8.

As the centrepiece of the display, owner Vanessa Graham has used her daughter Karenza Harrington's racing bike, which is not in use a the moment as Karenza is expecting a baby next month.

Alongside that and the keen cyclist's specialist boots are items from through the years including cycle lamps, a Black Sheep Freewheeling pale ale bottle and a risque photograph of an underwear-clad woman smoking a cigarette alongside her bike.

Many of the pieces have come from the shop's museum.

Vanessa, 52, said: "We wanted to celebrate the Tour of Britain and showcase what's coming to Cockermouth."

Vanessa added that Karenza hoped to watch the tour passing through the town, baby permitting.

She, on the other hand, will be working but plans to soak up the atmosphere.
