Maryport's Little World Foods is about to get bigger.

The Curzon Street shop has moved across the road to premises three times larger.

Little World Foods opened in the town four years ago and sells food and drink from all over the world.

Owner River Zichem, 48, said he has wanted to expand the business for some time and grabbed the opportunity when How Bazaar closed down on the opposite side of the road.

He said the move will give him the chance to extend his stock.

"I particularly want to concentrate on gluten-free and organic food. But I also want to bring in more Filipino food.

"I know of businesses coming down here from Carlisle to sell Filipino and Asian food to people from Workington and Whitehaven and I figure I should be doing that!"

He said running a business in the past four years has been a series of ups and downs and he will be expanding the new shop slowly.

"I would imagine that at first we will only be using the front half. As we increase our range - and I also want to bring in foreign drinks - we will gradually take over the whole building."

Little World Foods sells a large range of food and drink items, especially of Eastern European origin.

But he will try and access anything his customers want from whatever part of the world.

It is not known why How Bazaar, a costume hire shop run by Gail Howard, closed.
