A proposed 20,000 panel solar park at Flimby has moved a step closer to construction.

Energy company NSP Indygen Ltd submitted details of the proposed construction plan for the project to Allerdale council for approval.

The move was among the conditions attached to the planning permission for the development, of St Helen's Lane, when it was approved in December 2015.

In the document, the company said construction on the 14-hectare site would take 11 weeks, with 143 deliveries of equipment expected over that time.

Most would be early in the construction period, with 10 deliveries per day at most, and they would be restricted to off-peak traffic times.

The firm said most traffic would access the site via the A596.

Once finished, the solar park is expected to generate 4,600MW hours per year - the equivalent of that needed to power up to 1,934 households.

It would be decommissioned after 30 years.
