A Flimby pub may be turned into an Indian restaurant and takeaway.

Angela Fong, of Fong & Sons in Skipton, confirmed this week that she finally has a tenant interested in taking over the Princess Royal which she bought over two years ago.

She said: "Nothing has been finalised yet so I can't tell you much. But I do know he is interested and is going through legal processes at the moment."

Mrs Fong said the pub has been renovated.

She added: "When we bought it our plan was to turn it into flats. We could not get planning permission because it was the last pub in the village.

"We did it up but it has just stood empty because we could not find anyone who wanted it."

Fong & Sons is in the process of seeking planning permission to change the use of the pub to ensure that the deal can go ahead smoothly.

Mrs Fong said she had now completed extra documentation requested by Allerdale council and hopes that a decision will be made soon.
