A travel agency has opened in Maryport – the first in the town for several years.

Worldwide Travel opened in Senhouse Street, in premises formerly occupied by Genesis, on Monday.

The travel agency is being run by mother-and-daughter team Claire, 43, and Lauren Williamson, 21, who have spent the past four years working in the travel industry in Perth, Western Australia.

“We came back when our visas ran out and came to this area because my husband, Paul, works at Sellafield,” said Claire.

The family are living in Great Broughton.

Worldwide Travel’s owners are Lorraine and Stephen Hall, who also have agencies in Carlisle and Penrith.

Lauren said: “They decided to open in Maryport because it seems to be an up-and-coming town and there was no travel agency here.”
