A Workington music shop opened on Oxford Street this week.
Workington Music Store has moved from Washington Street to the former Beaus & Belles bridal shop.
The bridal shop closed last Friday, as owner Dee Douglas retired, and music store owners Keith Wallace and Buzz Elliott formally moved in on Monday.
They have been in the store for the last two weeks starting the refurbishment while Mrs Douglas completed her last few orders.
Keith, 48, said: “We are in a good location with the post office and bus station nearby.
“There were a lot of memories in the old place, but this is a positive move.”
He said they hoped to add some new additions to the store.
He is in discussions with a designer in London to get a contract for some music T-shirts and they want to offer a greater range of CDs.
Buzz, 51, had a hand in designing the shop’s new sign which incorporates the opening notes of the song Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple.
He said: “It’s one of the first tunes people learn on the guitar and is one of the first songs that got me into rock music.”
