Last updated at 12:35, Friday, 07 September 2012
Today we can reveal who is in the running to pick up one of this year’s CN Group Business Awards.
Thirty-nine finalists have been chosen by a panel of judges, who debated over 100 entries in the prestigious awards.
The judges were John Ainsworth, of Barclays, Julie Barton, of Ulverston’s Forge Europa, John Grainger, MD of Invest in Cumbria, Andy Hooper, managing director of West Lakes Engineering, Whitehaven, and Marie Whitehead, director of cnevents.
There was a strong field of entries and major industrial names and smaller family-run companies are all in the running for a string of accolades to reward those who continue to succeed despite the challenging economic climate.
A record number of entries were submitted in the Small Business Category this year, with more than 20 vying for the three top places.
Thirteen of the finalists were from West Cumbria and they will now go on to contest 16 categories from Innovation and Technology to Business of the Year.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner at Rheged, near Penrith, on October 18.
