This Titanic design is one of the latest stained glass products from a Cockermouth woman who is following in her father’s footsteps.

Susannah Lawrence, of Fitz View, is owner of Derwent Stained Glass, based at Derwent Mills Commercial Park, which she set up in 2010.

Susannah’s father Graham used to run Cockermouth Stained Glass, which he set up in 1992 before selling up because of ill health.

Susannah, who worked for her father in his workshop, plans to sell the Titanic window to a collector.

She said: “I find stained glass fascinating. I always used to come up to my dad’s workshop to have a look.

“I just started to get interested and ended up helping him out.”

Susannah’s work is split between doing commissions for churches and people’s homes.

One of her biggest jobs was providing stained glass for the whole east wing of Holy Trinity Church in Kendal.

She said: “I do quite a lot of old Victorian houses in Keswick.

“Some people might see it as a luxury getting stained glass, but a simple window is no more than if you paid to get double glazing.”

It took her two weeks to do her design of the Titanic but simple designs can take as little as half a day.
