Workington paper mill Iggesund Paperboard wants to erect up to four wind turbines near its Siddick factory.
The firm has submitted a scoping opinion request to Allerdale council to gauge reaction, before it lodges a full planning application.
Erected around 0.2 miles west of Seaton, the proposed turbines would be 360ft with a rotor diameter of 295ft.
The wind farm would include access roads and a control building and it is estimated that most of the construction work would take six to eight months.
Electricity generated from the turbines would contribute to the National Grid.
A spokesman from Iggesund said regular updates on the project would be provided at community liaison group meetings every three months.

Have your say
And you honestly think it will stop with four turbines? This is merely a first step to gauge level of opposition.
Why Iggesund need these turbines I don't know. They are building a Biomass Powerplant that produces more electricity than they need. They only want to build four turbines that wont produce enough power to power the lights to reduce there carbon footprint. It is stupid.
