New Cockermouth clothes shop set to close

A Cockermouth business which opened in August is to shut down at the end of this month.
Charlie Carlin opened clothing shop Voodoo on Market Place to sell casual clothes featuring designs by him and other artists.
His stock was aimed at people aged 16 to 30.
But he has decided to move the business to Leeds, which he feels will better suit his business, after a lack of support in the town and problems with his shop sign.
Mr Carlin, whose family run the nearby Allerdale Court Hotel, was asked to remove the sign by Allerdale council because it was considered too large and not in keeping with the Georgian area.
He said: “I had a ridiculous amount of pressure from the council regarding the sign.
“I am not going to continue to flog a dead horse which is why I have decided to move the business.
“Unfortunately it will be another empty shop in Cockermouth.
“People ask for change but then when it happens they complain about it.”
The shop will close at the end of the month but the business will trade online.

Have your say
As for the comment posted by (notsurprised)
If we are snobby in Cockermouth, then i wonder where you are from?
Agree with many of the comments on the staffing, and add that the shop is often closed durung busy periods. I have attempted to purchase items from the shop and after many wasted trips simply given up trying to find it open!
