Workington will benefit from super-fast broadband from next spring.
BT announced on Tuesday that nearly 10,000 homes and businesses in Workington will benefit from the high-speed technology as part of a £2.5 billion roll-out across the UK.
Workington MP Tony Cunningham welcomed the news.
He said: “It is good news for people to make sure their home computers are up to speed, for businesses to help their development and growth, and is good for investment in the area because investors will be demanding super-fast broadband.”
When Workington is upgraded next spring people can expect speeds of 80Mbps, with the option to increase this to 300Mbps with significantly faster upload and download speeds.

Have your say
I have heard that fringe areas may not be connected as soon as this.
I wonder if Seaton is included in this roll out.
