A West Cumbrian house was burgled last night as the occupants slept.
The break in happened at Beechwood Close, Maryport, between 9.45pm last night and 6.30am today.
Police said a number of items were stolen.
It is believed the burglar entered through the back or patio door, and left on foot, in the direction of the town centre.
The thief would initially have had a suitcase with them, which was then discarded in the road nearby.
