A man who started and finished a Workington gang attack which left the lone victim battered and bloodied has been sentenced.
The man was lured to a house in the town on false pretences late on August 8, last year.
Carlisle Crown Court heard that, once there, he was subjected to a vicious 40-minute beating which included being stamped on.
The victim was treated in hospital having suffered a fractured rib and bruising across his body.
Only one of the gang members responsible for the sickening violence was brought to justice.
Neil Ivison, 36, who punched the victim a number of times, was sentenced today after admitting an actual bodily harm assault.
He was spared prison after Judge Barbara Forrester heard the probation service had concluded they could work with Ivison in the community.
A 16-month prison term was suspended for two years, and Ivison, of Hunday Court, Workington, must abide by a four-month curfew and complete a rehabilitation activity requirement.
