Detectives investigating the death of a man who was critically injured at a holiday park, say two suspects held on suspicion of manslaughter will face no further action.

The two men, aged 47 and 24 and both from Cumbria, were arrested during a probe into Robert William Gordon's death.

Police were called to the Stanwix Park Holiday Centre in Silloth in the early hours of March 12.

Officers said Mr Gordon, who was 47 and from Annan Court in Kilmarnock, sustained serious injuries. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

He died the following day at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

An investigation was launched which led to the arrests of two men, from Silloth, in connection with his death.

But Cumbria Police has now confirmed the two men will face no further action - and investigations will now be carried out by the coroner.

A police spokeswoman told the News & Star: "The two men arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to the incident have been released with no further action to be taken.

"The death has been passed to the coroner."

It is believed that an incident started in the bar area of Stanwix Park and then continued outside.

The 47-year-old man was initially arrested on March 12 on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. But this was changed to suspicion of manslaughter after Mr Gordon died.

Inquest documents stated his body was identified by his daughter Shereen Gordon.

The inquest into Mr Gordon's death has been opened and adjourned until August 17.
