Grafitti has appeared on a Workington’s estate bus shelter three weeks after it was painted by the community.

The shelter on Trinity Drive, Northside, was vandalised this week.

Celia Tibble, county councillor for the area, said: “I’m very disappointed that some people felt they couldn’t leave it as it was, but I won’t be half as upset as the residents and children who took a lot of time to make it look nice.

“Only a couple of days ago I was really pleased to see two ladies who were cycling, stopping to get a picture of it.

“The people who have done this graffiti must be someone’s friend or child or someone must have seen something.

“If people feel they can’t tackle vandals themselves, they can call the police anonymously.

“These things need to be reported.

“Luckily we’ve used anti-graffiti paint to complete the artwork on the bus shelter, which means any graffiti should be easier to scrub off.”

She added that Cumbria Neighbourhood Watch Association have just launched Cumbria Community Messaging, which allows people who join to report anonymously.
