Two people have been arrested after a man was attacked in Workington town centre on Monday morning.

The 19-year-old was in his way to work around 6am when he was thrown to the ground, punched and kicked in the area between Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Co-operative Funeral Care on Oxford Street.

The attacker is described as white, in his mid 20s and of small build with short dark hair.

A 29-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, both from Workington, have been arrested in connection with the incident.

They have been release on bail until October 1.

Detective Inspector Dan StQuintin said: "If you were in the vicinity of Oxford Street at this time, we would like to hear from you.

“The victim suffered minor injuries but is understandably shaken by this incident.”
