Police are appealing for two potential witnesses to come forward following an armed robbery in Maryport yesterday.

The incident took place at the Post Office on High Street just before 11.30am, when staff were threatened with a firearm.

A male with a Scottish accent and a female tried to enter the Post Office shortly after and it is believed they may have seen the offender.

Police are appealing for them to get in touch.

The suspect is described as being approximately 6ft, aged approximately 40-50 years old, of slim build and was wearing a dark shiny Puffa-style jacket with his hood up.

Detective Inspector Dan St Quintin said: "Officers and detectives have been working 24/7 to try and trace this offender and many lines of enquiry are being pursued.

"As well as the two potential witnesses referred to above, we would still like to speak to anyone who may help us locate the suspect and bring him to justice.

"No matter how small you may think your information, it could be vital to our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
