Ram-raiders stole outdoor clothing worth thousands of pounds from a Keswick shop.

Police were called at 4.45am on Sunday after thieves took items including RAB jackets in a variety of colours, blue and black Montane jackets, Montane long-sleeve T-shirts in marine and cosmos, and Berghaus T-shirts in black, grey, blue, green and red from a shop in Market Place, Keswick.

A dark-coloured Citroen Picasso was reversed into the shop door and may have a damaged window.

The same offender is also believed to be responsible for removing a wooden footpath sign saying 'Little Braithwaite 1/2 mile'.

Temporary Detective Sergeant Grattan said: "This burglary targeted a local clothing shop and thousands of pounds worth of stock was taken.

"We are appealing to anyone with any information regarding this incident to please get in touch.

"We would also like to appeal to anyone who might be approached to purchase these items to decline and get in touch.

"Purchasing stolen goods is an offence and if an offer seems too good to be true it probably is."

Anyone with information should email 101@cumbria.police.uk or call police on 101 and ask to speak to DC 2002 Gilmour.

Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
