Four incidents of vandalism over the past six months has caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to St Kentigern's Church in Aspatria.

The vicar, the Rev Tim Herbert, said he has no idea who is causing the damage or why.

He added: "We have had windows - including stain glass windows - broken on four different occasions. The last was this week."

He said the damage appears to have been caused by stones being thrown at the windows.

The cost of repairing two stained glass panels was £1,200, he said, while a large glass window plate would cost about £600 to fix.

Mr Herbert said: "This has been very upsetting. We do not know why this church is being targeted. The money being spent on these repairs could so well be used elsewhere."

Police are investigating the vandalism.
