A young man caught by police with bags of cocaine stuffed inside his underpants has been handed a jail sentence.

Tyler Joseph Wilson, 20, was punished at Carlisle Crown Court today having admitted possessing the class A drug with intent to supply.

His offence was committed on August 10 when police stopped his vehicle near Dearham. Two bags of cocaine were recovered from the glove box, and a further five were found in Wilson's boxer shorts. The drugs had a total potential street value of almost £300.

Wilson was said to have bought the drug primarily for his own use. But he went on to accept he would have sold some to friends, if asked, for a "modest" profit.

Judge Barbara Forrester heard he was already serving a custodial sentence for burglary.

Having been told Wilson, previously of Browside Road, Dearham, was making "significant" progress" while incarcerated, Judge Forrester imposed an eight-month young offenders' institution term for the cocaine crime.
