A woman accused of committing fraud in the wake of last December's floods will go on trial later this year.

Nicola Moore, 32, of Windsor Road, Workington, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today yesterday to face two charges.

During a short hearing in front of Judge Barbara Forrester, Moore pleaded not guilty to two fraud allegations. Both relate to claims which are said to have been lodged with the Cumbria Community Foundation.

One of the charges alleges that, on December 17 Moore made a false claim for flood-damaged belongings for which she was not the owner.

In addition, on February 12 this year, she is accused of making a fraudulent claim in respect of flood damaged belongings for which she had "already claimed and already received recompense".

Barrister Brendan Burke told the court Moore was making "very firm" denials of the allegations.

A trial, estimated to last two days, is set to be heard at the crown court in the week of November 28.

In the meantime, Moore was remanded on bail.
