Man arrested after alleged Samurai sword attack

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of grevious bodily harm after two people were alleged to have been attacked with a Samurai sword in Dearham last night.

Maryport police said they received the first of several calls from Brow Side at 9.50pm, with residents reporting a man they first thought was carrying a machete.

Sergeant Peter Garforth said police were still taking witness statements to discover exactly had happened.

But he said it seemed that there had been a several incidents leading up to the arrest of the man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The man may also be charged with having a dangerous dog.

The people received minor injuries.
