MARYPORT Infant School has outstanding features, according to an Ofsted report.
The care, support and guidance of its pupils is described as outstanding.
The report also praises head teacher Tina Ellis, who is said to provide strong leadership and is well supported by staff and governors.
The report adds that results for national assessments have been consistently above average for the last five years.
The results have improved since the last Ofsted inspection, especially in maths.
Maryport Infant scored ‘outstanding’ or ‘good’ in every category assessed.
Personal development is rated as outstanding. Teaching is said to be good and the way the curriculum is delivered to meet the needs of pupils is also outstanding.
The Ofsted report mentions that Maryport Infant School has received a kitemark for excellence from Cumbria County Council.
Mrs Ellis said: “We are really pleased with the report. We have much improved since our last good one three years ago and we feel that it really captures the spirit of our school.”
