COCKERMOUTH School has a new business manager.
Dawn Boyes, 42, will shortly be moving to the area with her family, from Birmingham, to the town’s Buttermere Close.
Mrs Boyes was business manager at a grammar school in Birmingham and a high school in West Bromwich.
Before that she lived in Germany where she attended university and before that, was an airforce officer.
Mrs Boyes said: “I grew up in Derbyshire and I wanted my son to have the same opportunity and live in a small place and be part of a community.”
She said she was settling into her new job.
“Everyone is just so welcoming and supportive. It has just been amazing. I have met lots of pupils and been to the school council meeting.
“It is really nice to be working with enthusiastic staff and pupils,” she added.
In her role as business manager, Mrs Boyes will deal with the finance of the school, budgeting, cleaning, premises and catering contracts, maintenance and legal aspects to the school on a day-to-day basis. The business manager is also on the senior leadership team at the school.
