Visionary leadership succeeds

Cockermouth's All Saints’ Primary School is celebrating after being rated good with some outstanding features in a recent Ofsted report.

The school was rated good in all areas, while parts of the teaching and improvements in the curriculum were deemed outstanding.

In the report, staff were praised for their excellent care and inclusion of all its pupils.

Lead inspector David Byrne said: “Good teaching and interesting lessons generate first rate relationships between staff and pupils.

“The school’s leaders set high expectations for pupils’ achievements and have secured good improvement since the previous inspection.”

Mr Byrne added that pupils’ learning in lessons and overall achievement was good, with many children developing an advanced knowledge for their age in music, French and parts of outdoor education.

Headteacher Nicola Smallwood was congratulated on her “visionary leadership” which she said was shared by a dedicated team of staff and governors.
