A drop-in session will take place in Keswick on Wednesday as part of a consultation on maternity services in north and West Cumbria.

Healthwatch Cumbria will lead the session at Rawnsley Hall, Main Street from 10am to noon.

People can comment on what is important to them at all stages of pregnancy.

The engagement is targeting women who have used maternity services in the last five years, their partners, families and birth supporters and those who may become pregnant in the future.

Sue Stevenson from Healthwatch Cumbria said: “During November we have made arrangements to attend more than 50 sessions where mums and families are present with young children.

"We have identified a few areas where there are either no sessions or groups that we can attend or where we need to add to what already exists, and that’s why the drop in events have been arranged.

“We look forward to meeting with local people at these events and to hearing what’s important to them during all stages of pregnancy.”

The engagement about maternity services which started on 2 November, includes an online questionnaire.

In the first week more than 500 responses were received.

People can also email comments to info@healthwatchcumbria.co.uk

Last week consultation representatives attended sessions for mums and children in towns including Aspatria, Cockermouth, Maryport and

Workington. More are planned for the next three weeks.

All feedback will be evaluated independently by Healthwatch. It will then be handed to the implementation group set up in June following the independent review of maternity services.
