PEOPLE are urged to get their flu jabs in West Cumbria. 

Those eligible for the vaccinations include the elderly, people with chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes, carers and pregnant women.

Workington's Oxford Street surgery is holding clinics today,and next Friday, September 25, from 3.30pm to 6.30pm. To make an appointment, call 01900 603302. 

The town's Orchard House Surgery is holding drop-in clinics from 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 6pm on September 28, October 5 and October 12 and James Street surgery is holding drop-in clinics tomorrow and September 26 from 9am to noon. Appointments can also be made for Wednesday and September 30 from 2pm to 6pm. 

Beechwood Surgery patients can drop in tomorrow and September 26 from 9am to noon for flu jabs. 

People registered with Solway Health Services on Park Lane are asked to call 01900 705150 to make an appointment.    

Maryport Health Services is holding its annual mass vaccination day at Maryport Rugby Club on Mealpot Road next Wednesday.

The drop-in at the rugby club will run from 9.30am to 1.30pm and then from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Last year the doctors’ surgery sent our 4,000 invitations to people qualifying for the flu jab and gave 1,100 on the day.

As in previous years, arrangements have been made for those who cannot get to the rugby club.

There will be drop-in sessions at the surgery between Monday, September 28 and Friday, October 9 between noon and 1pm and 4.30 and 5.30pm.
