Hospice at Home West Cumbria has been internationally hailed as an example of good end-of-life care.
Research into the charity's work is being used as part of a worldwide online court identifying the best way to integrate state-funded and independent sector palliative care.
It comes after the service took part in a four-year research programme in part by the International Observatory on End of Life Care at Lancaster University, which is a world leader in the field.
The research spanned five EU countries and Hospice at Home West Cumbria has been highlighted as the UK model the researchers best felt represented integrated palliative care.
The newly-launched course already has more than 6,000 students signed up from more than 75 countries.
Linda Hewitt, chief executive, said: "Reading so many positive comments on the online course I am immensely proud to be part of such an amazing team of staff, volunteers and trustees."
