North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust is among five organisations to have been singled out for the CHKS Top Hospitals programme award for data quality.
It comes just a week after the trust was finally taken out of special measures after Care Quality Commission inspectors found vital improvements had been made.
The awards celebrate excellence and are given to UK hospital organisations for achievements in quality and improvement.
The data quality award is a national award given in recognition of the importance of clinical coding and data quality, and the essential role they play in ensuring appropriate patient care.
Stephen Eames, trust chief executive, said: “On the back of being taken out of special measures last week, this is more positive news for the trust.
“It is excellent that through the efforts of our staff, our improvements are being recognised on a national level as one of only five trusts to be shortlisted for this award.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on May 10.
