Hospital campaigners are again pleading with the public to write to the Success Regime expressing concern about plans to remove beds from Maryport.
A handful of letters have come into the collection point at Ewanrigg Community Centre but more are needed.
Organisers are now suggesting that people can also put comments on the back of the SOB flyers which are being distributed throughout the town and in outlying districts in Crosby, Dearham, Broughton Moor and Flimby.
More than 2,000 people have now signed a paper petition that can be found in shops and businesses around town.
The Times & Star has also launched an online petition which has more than 500 signatures.
Kate Whitmarsh, campaign spokeswoman, said the petitions would help the Success Regime to gauge the strength of feeling in Maryport about any move to downgrade services at the hospital.
But she said they also need reasons and these can best be expressed in a letter.
The trust and Ewanrigg and Netherton Tenants’ and Residents’ Associationstaff and volunteers are happy to help people compose letters.
They ask that they be left at the centre so they can all be delivered together to the Success Regime following a march in Maryport on June 18.
