A man was put in an induced coma and airlifted to hospital after falling ill in Keswick.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called around 3.50pm yesterday to reports that the man, in his 50s, was suffering from a medical condition.
The helicopter's doctor-led team put the man in an induced coma before flying him to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a 20-minute flight.
The patient, from Darlington, was said to be in a stable condition on arrival at hospital.
It was the second air ambulance call to the Keswick area in less than a week.
On Friday afternoon the service was called to the Borrowdale Valley after a woman suffered a serious head injury in a fall.
She was also put in an induced coma before being flow to hospital.
