The opening of the new £80 million West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven has taken another step closer.
A new MRI scanner has been delivered and installed last week.
The new static scanner, which cost £1.2m to buy and install, will replace the mobile scanner which operates in the existing hospital.
Patients currently have to travel to Carlisle or further afield for complex MRI scans.
