More than 14,000 ribbons in Maryport, Dearham, Flimby and Crosby are spelling out the message: Save our Beds.
Campaigners came up with the idea of tying some ribbons outside the Maryport hospital to mark support for the hospital after the Success Regime proposal to remove its beds.
The idea has spread and there are now ribbons hanging from trees, lampposts and tied to any available railings around the towns.
