A video has been produced in a bid to attract the very best talent to the West Cumberland Hospital.
The North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to attract top consultants, doctors and nurses to join its staff at the Cumberland Infirmary at Carlisle.
Featuring staff from both hospitals explaining why Cumbria is the ideal place to live and work, it was recently shown to potential new recruits at the Acute and General Medicine Conference in London.
Dr Katie Poulton, consultant emergency medical admissions, features in the video. She said: “We’re a smaller trust than other places but that means you can really get your teeth into new developments, helping improve services in a way that you wouldn’t get the opportunity to in larger tertiary centres.”
Kirstin Geer, advanced critical care practitioner at the trust, said: “I started my nurse training here in 2002 and found it a really friendly, supportive place to work so I’ve stayed ever since.
“I did my degree then my masters to become a nurse practitioner and I’ve just finished my critical care practitioner training so now I’m filling in a slot on the medical rota.
“There is real chance for progression here.”
Stephen Eames, chief executive at North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “There is a national shortage of consultants, doctors and nurses but I believe Cumbria offers a unique environment for staff, both in their working and personal lives.’’
