The Freedom of Information Act is being used to obtain details of the cost of running Maryport hospital.

It has been lodged by Ewanrigg Local Trust.

Development officer Kate Whitmarsh said the Success Regime is looking at removing beds from the hospital based on the NHS debt in Cumbria.

She said: “But nobody has told us if the Maryport hospital is running over budget. In fact, we have not been able to get any information about costs.”

The FOI request was lodged with the NHS Cumbria Foundation Partnership.

The Joint League of Friends and the Times & Star have both put questions to the Success Regime.

The Joint League of Friends wrote in March and the Times & Star a week ago.

A spokesman for the Success Regime said: “The Cumbria Partnership and the Success Regime are working towards getting answers to the questions and when we have the detail would be happy to share the response with you.”
