The Great North Air Ambulance was called out after a woman slipped and fell while walking in the Lake District.
The woman, in her 40s, suffered a serious ankle injury at Clough Head near Keswick, around 2.10pm yesterday.
The doctor-led team administered strong pain relief and treatment at the scene before flying the casualty to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.
She was stable on arrival.
