Workington MP Sue Hayman has secured a meeting with the man leading changes to local health services.

Mrs Hayman will meet Sir Neil McKay, chairman of the Success Regime, on May 23.

The announcement comes a week after Mrs Hayman called for urgent talks with Sir Neil, who was appointed in September to lead the project to transform struggling NHS services across north and West Cumbria.

Mrs Hayman said last week she was concerned that, after repeated calls, she has still not had a meeting with Sir Neil.

Success Regime bosses have denied her claims, saying Sir Neil is keen to meet with the MP and had twice contacted her office about potential dates.

The day after the meeting, Mrs Hayman will meet Hospitals Minister Ben Gummer and officials from the Department of Health, NHS England, health regulator Monitor and the NHS Trust Development Agency to discuss the Success Regime.
