People can find out more about a career in nursing this month.

Lakes College is holding an advice and guidance session for the third intake of its nurse cadet programme, which is run with the NHS.

The event is being held at the college's Lillyhall campus on Thursday April 14 from 6pm, and will include presentation by college and NHS staff.

Guests will also have the opportunity to meet current nurse cadet students and their placement ‘buddies’ to discover more about their experience on the course.

The cadetship was introduced to Lakes College in 2014 and offers learners the chance to study a level three diploma in health and social care and gain work experience in hospitals across Cumbria to give them the best possible chance of selection for university.

Applicants need to have five GCSEs at grade A*-C to include maths, English and science.

There is also a selection process, including an interview, with NHS staff.

Applications can be made at the event and the closing date is Friday April 29.
