Three boys are off to watch Manchester City play Everton next week after a school reading competition.

Declan Smith, 12, Jaedyn Kendall-Watson, 13, and Mitchell Ward, 12, read 100 books between them over three months in the boys' reading challenge set by St Joseph's School in Workington.

The challenge, to read as many books as possible in three months and complete a quiz on each one, was set by English teacher Wendy Armstrong to encourage a love of books among boys and boost literacy.

As well as watching next Saturday's match, the boys will get a pre-match stadium tour, sit in the directors' box and the manager's seat, and have a meal.
