Events will be held across West Cumbria in the coming week as the county council marks the national Festival of Learning.

Information sessions and tasters are available in everything from traditional subjects like English and maths to practical activities like sewing and photography.

Workington Library will host a drop-in session from 11am to 2pm on Monday for people to find out about courses available from September. The same information will be available at Keswick Library on Wednesday from 11am to 2pm.

On Tuesday from 10am to noon there will be at taster in machine sewing and alterations at Riversmeet in Cockermouth.

Whitehaven Library will offer an Exciting English session on Wednesday from 10am to 1pm, followed by Marvellous Maths from 1pm to 4pm.

Ewanrigg Community Centre in Maryport will offer a session on the basics of digital photographer on Thursday from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Previously known as Adult Learners’ Week, the Festival of Learning is the biggest celebration of lifelong learning in England.

It aims to highlight the benefits of learning, celebrate the achievements of adults who have used learning to transform their lives, and to encourage everyone to embrace lifelong learning.
