Three Keswick School students have received engineering scholarships through a national trust.

Harry Dowber has received an Arkwright Scholarship sponsored by The Nuclear Institute.

Robert Edmiston received a scholarship sponsored by The British Dam Society and Tom Hind's was backed by Network Rail.

The year 12 students were among 413 scholarship recipients nationwide.

Each was awarded after a selection process supported by a teacher's reference, a two-hour aptitude exam and an interview hosted by a top engineering university.

Arkwright Scholarships support young people across the UK who have the potential to be future leaders in engineering and technical design.

Each student will receive £600 to support their technical courses and provide access to learning opportunities.

The school will receive £400 per scholarship student.

Simon Jackson, headteacher, said: "It's a wonderful achievement for all three students.

"Ultimately this success is down to their motivation and enthusiasm but it’s nice to know that the home-school partnership that exists here really works."
