Children got a peek at what their future learning may hold as they took part in a transition day at St Joseph's School in Workington.

The event showed year five pupils from Seaton Junior School, St Mary's Primary School, Derwent Vale Primary School and Distington Community School what education is like at the school with a range of activities.

They sat in on lessons and spoke with year eight pupils from the school before embarking on an afternoon of challenges.

The activities encouraged collaboration and team work and included a challenge to eat three cream crackers and a cat and mouse game with a parachute.

Gareth Hughes, assistant headteacher, said: "It was great to see the children really enjoy it and the feedback from their teachers was good.

"It's to try and get pupils used to the idea of learning at secondary school because they'll be choosing their places later this year."
