Town councillors have given their support to Keswick School pupils whose PE lessons have been affected by the recent floods.
The school's 700 male students have been forced to abandon their usual rugby and football sessions because of flood damage to the playing fields.
While work is done to repair them, the pupils have been forced to do gym classes inside, leaving the school in need of extra resources.
The council agreed to give £1,000 to cover half the cost of two new rowing machines and a set of gym mats.
The school will seek the rest of the money from other sources.
