Maryport children will learn how to be safe on the internet next month.

Around 200 children will take part in an event at the Wave Centre to mark Safer Internet Day on Tuesday, February 9.

The event is being organised by the Maryport Extended Schools Partnership.

Jeff Haslam, a man with many years experience on delivering workshops to adults and children on the topic of e-safety, will run two workshops.

The morning sessions, from 9.30am to noon, is for key stage two children and the afternoon session, from 1pm to 3pm for key stage one youngsters.

The workshops will involve 11 schools from Maryport and district.

Nicola Woolley, partnership co-ordinator, said the topics of online safety and cyber bullying were important as the ages of children who have access to the internet become increasing younger.
