A Cockermouth pre-school is delighted to have been given a good rating by Ofsted.
Mary Platt Methodist Pre-School, on Lorton Street, has been running for 53 years. Last October an Ofsted inspector deemed it inadequate. The inspector criticised it for failing to have robust systems to ensure all committee members were suitable for their role.
Keith Rushton, chairman of governors at the committee-run pre-school, said: “We are pleased to announce that we had another full inspection in January and the outcome is good.
“Once again the inspector records that the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and outcomes for the children are all maintained at a high standard.
“Furthermore, our governance and safeguarding is absolutely secure.”
The pre-school employs eight members of childcare staff and has 44 children aged between two and four on its roll.
The inspector rated the pre-school good for effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for children.
