Talented design and technology students at Cockermouth School staged a show of their work.

The GCSE and A-level pupils exhibited their course work in the Eco Centre for parents and fellow students to see.

Members of Cockermouth Rotary Club looked round the exhibition and chose their favourite creations.

The winners received Amazon vouchers.

The A-level product design winner was Rachel Bicknell, who created a room screen divider, with mirrors and shelves. Runner-up was Chris McKay’s portable media centre with a Raspberry Pi computer and docking station.

“It took me about six months to design and make it. I really enjoyed doing it,” said Chris, 17, of Broughton Cross. “There were some challenging bits but I could also incorporate skills I already had.”

The GCSE resistant materials winner was Thomas Walton, who made a wooden table with tiles. Runner-up was Matthew South’s electronics gadget tidy.

Isobel Holmes won the GCSE graphic products section, with her travel board game for children.
