A new headteacher has joined Westfield Nursery and Primary School in Workington.
Karen Barley, 46, has become the new head and has taken over from Joanne Ormond, who has moved to Maryport Junior School.
Mrs Barley, of Torpenhow, near Aspatria, has been a teacher for 12 years and has previously worked in Carlisle and Stockton-on-Tees.
She was deputy headteacher at Norman Street Primary School in Carlisle until recently.
She said: "I'm hoping to build on the solid foundations they have as a community school, bring parents into the life of the school and ensure children have the very best deal in terms of aspirations of the future.
"I'm really excited about the future. There's such potential to help the school improve further."
