West Cumbria's advice and guidance service Inspira will have a new leader soon.

Deb Naylor will take up the role of the organisation's new area operations manager, leading Inspira’s West Cumbrian activities, from the outgoing Mike Priestly.

Ms Naylor, an experienced figure in the youth and career guidance sector, has 25 years experience working for Inspira in a number of management roles.

She said: "Changes in government policy towards career guidance and the way in which young people and adults can access help, is so different to a few years ago.

"We need to be nimble, flexible to the benefits of technology and responsive to the local labour market.

"It is exciting times and I am delighted to be taking over as area operations manager.”

Alongside managing a team of 20 advisors across Workington and Whitehaven, Ms Naylor will develop relationships and business opportunities with schools, colleges, training providers and government agencies in the area.

Mr Priestley has managed Inspira’s activities in West Cumbria for 15 years.

He said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my work, particularly some of the fine and rewarding partnerships we have fostered which have enabled us to help and support so many people, and to develop and deliver so many good projects."

Mr Priestley will continue working for Inspira with a role focusing on developing relationships with major Britain's Energy Coast employers.

Inspira helps young people and adults develop employability skills.
