Children and families in Maryport learned new ways to grow food on Wednesday.

Groundwork ran an event commissioned by Ewanrigg Local Trust, which attracted a group of 16, including children and adults.

Anne Bicknell, of the trust, said she was delighted at the turn out considering it had clashed with a large family fun day organised by the town council.

Participants decorated potatoes and planted cress in them.

They made cress caterpillars and created small and large containers of herbs and salad ingredients.

Some were taken home and some will provide ingredients for events at the Ewanrigg Community Centre in the months to come.

This was the first of several events run by Groundwork.

Others will be held every Wednesday and Friday from now to August 28.

There is no need to book.
